Magpie Calls- Update Oct 2015

Hi All.

I felt I needed to give a bit of an update of some of the stuff that has been happening and that I have been working on over the last while.

First up the big news has been Magpie Calls inclusion in The Bridal Gallery in Hillcrest, a permanent Exhibition space filled with every type of Bridal supplier you could need. We are in the VIP Brides side with all the beautiful wedding dresses. I am very excited for this partnership and hopefully the Brides are too!

Here are some pics from the Gallery( Excuse the phone pics):

I have also been working on various custom orders.
Here are some pictures of the final products (When I get professional photos from the weddings I will do separate blog posts on each).

Here are 2 Bridesmaid sashes in mint green and coral tones.

I have just finished a multiple item order- a super bling sash, strap brooches, and hair flower.

Here are some progress shots of the sash:

and then the final sash:

and the strap brooches:

 Everything altogether:

I replaced the flower as the colour was too dark,

I am currently busy with my showcase prep. Check here for event info on LEGENDS! The Dance Tribe/Left of Centre combined studio showcase in Durban, SA! Keep an eye out on facebook and the blog for some posts on some custom costume pieces I have made.

I hope to not be too long before catching you all up again!

much sparkle love

MC Bridal May/June 2015

I have been a VERY bad blogger and it's been ages since I last posted. I have been busy but that is no excuse. Today I will be showing you some of the pretties I have been making. I have had some Custom Bridal orders and am also making stock as I want to have a photo shoot sometime soon with models to showcase how my creations look on real people.

I hope you enjoy and it gives you some inspiration for today!

The following is a Custom Bridal Order. Her inspiration was this without the leaves. Lace, pearls and a little bit of sparkle.

And here is the result. Same elements but totally unique and OOAK!

Another Bridal Order is for 4 Flower Girl flower crowns. I am still busy with this order (have 1 more crown to finish).

Here is her inspiration:

And here are 3 of the 4 crowns I have made.

The following are stock items I have been experimenting with. I hope you like them!

First up is a lace-like wire and bead creation that can be worn in so many ways. It is easily attached with a few bobby pins and is really pretty against the hair.

I have also been experimenting with some pretty pins - wire and beads and also delicate flowers. Perfect for a bun or a sweet half updo. For those brides who prefer simple accents.

I have a lot more ideas in my head which are just itching to come out. I will post these pics on our facebook page Bridal Album as well.

Thanks for having a look through my pretties and hopefully you will like us on instagram @magpiecalls and facebook : www.facebook.com/magpiecalls

Leonie Dawson 2015 Create your Shining year workbook preview

I know I know. I've been slack with blog posts again. Definitely need to be more on the ball with these this year. Hopefully what I will show you in this post will help with that.

I got the Life and Biz Edition Workbook by Leonie Dawson as a late Christmas Present from my dear friend I. She is so supportive of all my business endeavors and life that it meant a lot to get something so creatively helpful as a gift. I'm not usually one for self-help books and life planners etc, but this book's aesthetic is so up my alley that I am so excited to fill it in and actually use it.

The book is a colourful delight. It is full of cute sayings, quirky drawings by Leonie and spaces to fill in all your answers. The book is divided into Life and Business sides, each starting off saying goodbye to the previous year to get the slate clean for this year's planning.

It has lists for you to fill in, concepts to mull over, and  positive reinforcement to start implementing.

It also has handy ways of keeping track of goals etc monthly, and also includes a seperate planner to put up on the wall.

Over-all this looks like fun to fill in. I am dedicating myself to filling in a few pages at a time and hopefully it helps to focus my goals for this year.

I have the print version but it is also available in PDF (see link at the top) .

This year is going to be a shining one for Magpie Calls, Dance Tribe and Tarah!

Vintage Star Wars Wedding- Official Pics

So a few months ago I did a post on a wedding I did work for and attended  Here. I used my phone pics to give you a peek at what it was like. Today I get to show you some of the Professional pics of my work taken by Shanleigh OReilly Photography. YAY!

The theme was Star Wars meets vintage, and they did such a great job of merging the two and making it classy. Today's post is going to be Magpie Calls focused, but I know the Bride is planning a blog post on the whole wedding soon, so when I get that link I will post it here.

Here is the Beautiful Bride wearing a custom seperate birdcage veil and fascinator by Magpie Calls. The veil was on beaded combs and was worn for the ceremony and removed for the reception.  The fascinator was handmade fabric flowers, with pearl details on a fully beaded base with wire crystal accents. Made from scratch with a comb backing.

Here the custom handbeaded from scratch applique by Magpie Calls decorated the Wedding Dress designed by Amy May Wright from Made By Amz. I used a mix of pearlised beads , silver beads, rhinestones and a pair of vintage earrings. I was given a piece of fabric with the angle drawn in and told- "be creative". This was the result!

Here are a few more shots of both the applique and the Fascinator.

I can't tell you what a thrill it is to see my creations in action and for occasions like this.  I hope to have many more happy Magpie Calls Customer pics like this in 2015.

much love and sparkles
